EXPERIENCE & LEADERSHIP MATTER
Twenty-Seven Years of Experience Working in City Hall Speaks Volumes Without Needing to Use Many Words...
Dana was one of four city officials who created the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District in negotiations with Bethlehem Steel in 1999. That district has benefited Bethlehem by laying the financial groundwork for the development of:
Completion of the renovations to the Stock House Visitors Center
Construction of the Hoover-Mason Trestle walkway
Funding construction of the South Bethlehem Greenway
Improving public parking lots at SteelStacks
Improving the roadways that support the Steelstacks complex
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Deputy Director of Community Development
Acting Director of Community and Economic Development
Housing Rehabilitation Finance Specialist
Civil Defense Director
Sealer of Weights and Measures
Dana on Diversity...
Bethlehem's diversity is its strength, that is why my mayor's office will be bi-lingual. City government must reflect that strength on our authorities, boards and commissions as well as in the composition of city staff. I will seek the best and brightest amongst our many residents to serve in a variety of capacities. In this way we will demonstrate that success is attainable for everyone.
Dana on Development, Historic Preservation & Ethics
Bethlehem Needs a Comprehensive Code of Ethics
Bethlehem needs a comprehensive ethics ordinance that will provide the framework for holding all elected and city officials to a high standard of ethical behavior.
Negotiating Merit-Based Development
Dana is not accepting contributions from the 7 or 8 largest developers in Bethlehem. Economic development projects must stand on their own merit, not the size of a campaign check.
Historic Preservation is Important to Bethlehem
We have got to get these development opportunities right. There aren't any 'do overs' once a project is finished and everyone realizes the ultimate impact on our town and its quality of life.
Dana on Small Business...
Bethlehem's small business community is critical to our local economy. I will create a small business concierge, a one-stop-shop, to provide support for both existing and new businesses and lead them through the city's permitting, inspections and licensing processes.
Dana on Affordable Housing...
Innovation, reuse, respect for history, affordable housing all intersect in Bethlehem, particularly on Bethlehem's Southside.
Dana on Parks, Environment & Neighborhoods ...
Our Parks & Environment Have Been Neglected by the City
Happy Earth Day 2021! Bethlehem's parks are a precious resource that have been neglected under the current administration. It is time to reconstitute the Department of Parks and Recreation under the Grubb administration.
Our Rose Garden Gets New Life After Years of Neglect.
Residents encouraged city hall to restore a beautiful gathering spot (the historic Bethlehem Rose Garden) that had not been maintained well for years. Kudos to all involved. Another reason for reconstituting a city department of parks and recreation.
Our Neighborhoods Are the Roots of Our Community
Bethlehem's many neighborhoods gives the City a sense of rootedness, whether you were born and raised in Bethlehem, or a new resident.
About Pear Duo -- Julie Ragins and her husband, Curtis Brengle of Pear Duo, created this campaign ad for Dana from their studio in Texas. In addition to touring with the Moody Blues, and their lead singer, Justin Hayward, Julie Ragins has performed with Queen Latifah, Sergio Mendes, Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Neil Sedaka and Brian Setzer just to name a few. She also has appeared on American Idol and Bachelor Pad, and written songs for Lifetime Original movies, the Biography channel (Bob Dylan), My Big Redneck Wedding, and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, among other projects. Curtis Brengle has performed with, or arranged for, Ray Charles, Sheena Easton, Englebert Humperdink, the Pointer Sisters and Chaka Khan, among others, and done recordings for Barry Manilow, Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO), Freaky Friday (Disney) and ESPN Football.
I am grateful for support and endorsements from former City co-workers who know my qualifications, work capacity and moral compass as well as anyone. Here is what some of them have to say:
